A supporter made the excellent recommendation that the following sentence, “Under no circumstance should a child be denied a meal or suffer negative consequences as the result of a negative or insufficient school meal account balance,” be moved from bowlegs (5) to the beginning of the petition. I think it fits perfectly and makes it clear right up front that the intent of this amendment its to first, do no harm. Other supporters have expressed concern regarding the legal options made available by bowlegs (5) so I have added the phrase “as a last resort,” to the beginning of that section. This latest version will be sent to Texas Rep. Senfronia Thompson requesting her feedback.
