Yes, there's an app for that -

A few supporters have asked about apps or automated notification processes that might be available to parents that might help prevent these occurrences. Like many districts, this district utilizes PayPAMS which charges parents a nominal fee for recharging student meal accounts and other conveniences. From the comments on the PayPAMS sign-in page the app seems pretty useful. Parents of course have the option of using PayPAMS, writing checks or sending cash in order to replenish student meal accounts. PayPAMS accepts several forms of payment: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, ACH and PayPal. Through the app parents can also access several tools: "Set up low balance alerts and automatic payments, view account balances and history, including meals and snacks purchased." It SOUNDS pretty convenient but then again I love apps, not everyone does, as a disclaimer, I don't have children and I've never used PayPAMS myself so there's that. This district does send paper low-balance notices home via the students, I do not know if they also call or e-mail parents directly. I hope this clears up a few of the questions, K. Holt And finally, Change.org has set the next goal as 75,000 signatures, however MY goal is different, my goal is legislative action so that this never occurs again. With that goal in sight, please continue sharing.
