The MV Bahijah left Fremantle for the Middle East on 5 January, 2024 loaded with sheep and cattle. The federal Department of Agriculture ordered the livestock vessel to return to Australia earlier this month, after it diverted off its course to the Middle East due to security concerns in the Red Sea. The ship is currently anchored off Fremantle. It seems the export company wants some of the animals on board to be offloaded in Western Australia and the rest sent back to the Middle East. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-01-31/mv-bahijah-live-sheep-export-vessel/103406578 Please contact the Minister for Agriculture, Murray Watt https://minister.agriculture.gov.au/watt/contact and ask that ALL the animals be offloaded NOW. They have been at sea for nearly a month. they have suffered enough. The Australian government cannot put animals and crew at risk by sending live export ships into a war zone. It's time to end ALL live animal exports.
