Petition updateEND LENIENCY FOR MURDERERS AGES 18–25: PASS THE NATIONAL YOUTH ACCOUNTABILITY ACTNational Change - Youth Accountability Act

Divina FisherAnnapolis, MD, United States

5 Sept 2025
Together, we are shifting from state-level fights to a national movement for accountability.
Many of you stood with me against Maryland House Bill 1190 and House Bill 853. One has already passed, and the other died in committee — but the fight for true accountability continues.
We are still working behind the scenes in the state of Maryland with collaborating with other organizations on House bill 853 and House bill 1190.
To retain traction with our movement this is why I am moving forward with the Youth Accountability Act — a national law that will cover ages 18 through 25, the very age group many states are trying to move backwards on with so-called “juvenile reforms.”
Here’s what this Act will do:
✅ Create federal accountability standards for violent crimes.
✅ Stop leniency loopholes for offenders ages 18–25 who commit violent acts.
✅ Protect families nationwide from policies that prioritize second chances for offenders over justice for victims.
Your signature is more than a name. It is a voice for:
• Families like mine, who live every day with the pain of loss.
• The sisters, nieces, and nephews who will never see their loved one again.
• Communities demanding lives over loopholes and justice over excuses.
With every signature, we send a clear message to lawmakers: Accountability matters. Victims matter. Our youth need better laws, not weaker ones.
Thank you for standing with me, with Vincent, and with every family who deserves justice. The JUST WHY Movement is growing — and together, we will make this Act a reality. 🧡
Please continue to share this petition. It is a national movement a voice for our nation a voice for our youth across the US. Anyone can sign from any state.
