End Housing Corruption in Jersey City Under Mayor Steven Fulop

End Housing Corruption in Jersey City Under Mayor Steven Fulop
The Issue
I, along with many others, have been direct victims of Mayor Steven Fulop's negligence, which has allowed terrible living conditions in rental properties across Jersey City. After six long years of enduring unbearable landlord harassment and dilapidated building conditions, I am now permanently visually impaired with nerve damage. This tragic outcome is not only personal, it is also a mirror of the escalating crisis many citizens of Jersey City are enduring.
For six years, the Fulop administration has turned a blind eye towards enforcing fire code, building code and Chapter 260 rent price regulation. Mayor Fulop wants you to believe his lies but the truth is your rent is so high because he refuses to enforce rent price regulation for six years.
This lack of action has set the stage for a mounting humanitarian disaster. Everyday citizens are subjected to freezing temperatures, no heat, carbon monoxide poisoning, vermin, leaks, floods, blocked plumbing, gas leaks, unjust rent price gouging, and constant harassment, leaving many now homelessness and bankrupt.
These vicious anti tenant policies are an intentional extermination plan and there is a concentrated effort by the Fulop for Governor campaign team to oppress, silence, and block people who speak out. Fulop has now blocked me on X four times for talking about this.
Once we are forced into the planned homeless interrment camps, there is no way out.
Additionally, evidence of campaign donations given to Steven Fulop by the same big developer slumlords perpetrating these abuses adds another layer to this corruption.
Adding further insult to injury is municipal prosecutor Jacob Hudnut's inexcusable conduct. The huge case of ticket fixing perpetrated under his watch is the largest in US history, involving an estimated $26 million in unenforced fire code and building code violation summons. While fires breakout citywide and heating becomes a luxury, Hudnut continuously lies, refusing to enforce the law.
We urgently need an end to this corruption in Jersey City. The safety, health and dignity of our citizens are directly tied to the enforcement of these basic housing codes and regulations. Let's demand that Mayor Steven Fulop takes action to fire, indict and arrest Jacob Hudnut. Let's demand that Fulop enforces these laws, and ensures that slumlords are held accountable for their actions.
Let's also demand that the State of New Jersey take immediate action to arrest and indict Mayor Steven Fulop for crimes against humanity. Fulop continues to support Hudnut, illegally block constituents on social media, accept huge donations from big developer slumlords, and leave Jersey City fire victims homeless and ignored.
We have record outbreaks of fires and no heat with over 115 people recently displaced, while the mayor does nothing but party in Aruba, throw man tantrums, stalk Mikie Sherill on facebook, and leave day after day to governor campaign.
We need Governor Phil Murphy to declare a housing state of emergency, send auditors from New Jersey Comptroller Kevin Walsh's office to audit rent prices and municipal court summons. We need Governor Murphy to put a moratorium on evictions and rent increases until landlords pass their audit. We need emergency resources to get our buildings back into complaince with building and fire code. And we need for our fire victims to have a program to go direct into home ownership.
Finally, we need Governor Murphy to end the eviction court corruption. His appointee Hudson superior judge Michael Jimenez is enforcing illegal rent price gouging, refusing to collaborate with the state rental assistance DCA program and the rent leveling board.
Please, sign this petition and stand with the people of Jersey City. We deserve respect, we deserve safe living conditions and we deserve a city that cares for its inhabitants. Let's fight against corruption together. Let's demand our right to safe, affordable housing.
Jacob Hudnut must be fired immediately.
