Last night, more than 1,000 Christians gathered in peaceful prayer across from Divine Playhouse.

The message was simple.

This has never been about a building.

This has never been about stopping artists from performing.

This has always been about standing against what we believe is a Christ-phobic portrayal of Christianity.

We all know the words.

Islamophobia. Homophobia. Antisemitism.

Society rightly condemns hostility towards those faiths and communities.

We believe it is time to recognise another word:

Christ-phobia.

Many Christians have been labelled "homophobic" simply because they hold traditional Christian beliefs. We reject hatred towards anyone. But we also reject the ridicule and singling out of Christianity while expecting Christians to remain silent.

Every Australian deserves equal respect under the same standard.

The organisers of Divine Playhouse have spoken about not feeling accepted by some churches. If that has been their experience, we are genuinely sorry. But one experience does not represent Christianity. Across Australia there are churches that seek to welcome people while remaining faithful to Christian teaching.

This campaign is only beginning.

Please continue writing to your local MP.

Please continue writing to the Premier of New South Wales.

Please continue writing to the Lord Mayor.

Please continue sharing this petition.

Please continue speaking respectfully but courageously.

This is a David versus Goliath battle.

It will not be easy.

But history has never been changed by people who remained silent.

Imagine what could happen if every Christian who loves and cherishes Jesus Christ did just one thing.

One email.

One phone call.

One letter.

One conversation.

One shared petition.

Together, those small acts become a movement.

Together, our voices can no longer be ignored.

Together, we can stand for equal respect for Christianity.

It's time to end Christ-phobia.
