THIS WAS NEVER ABOUT "DEFENSE" OR "SAFETY". IT IS ONLY ABOUT CONTROL.

On March 2, 2026, Anthropic, the owner of Claude AI, refused to allow the Pentagon the use of their AI for surveillance and weaponry purposes. Only a few hours later, OpenAI, the owner of ChatGPT, accepted this deal. 

OPENAI IS NOT THE ONLY COMPANY. Google & xAI have already agreed.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, claims that signing this deal so soon before placing restrictions was "sloppy and opportunistic." Because of this, OpenAI instated some "restrictions", releasing a segment of this contract on their official website, but only including "relevant language." We demand this contract be fully released. 

If OpenAI's "restrictions" were genuinely the same as Anthropic's, OpenAI would have gotten the same treatment. Considering the money OpenAI is able to spend on lawyers, and the programs they have access to, such obvious loopholes are almost surely on purpose. 

We fight for:

• ENDING GENERATIVE AI CONTRACTS WITH THE PENTAGON & DEPARTMENT OF WAR.
• KEEPING GENERATIVE AI OUT OF THE PENTAGON & DEPARTMENT OF WAR.
• SAM ALTMAN AND OPENAI RELEASING THE FULL CONTRACTS.
• LAWS TO BE CREATED AGAINST THE USAGE OF GENERATIVE AI REGARDING VIOLENCE, WEAPONRY, WAR, AND SURVEILLANCE.
  • NOT JUST A RESTRICTION OF "INTENTIONAL" USAGE, BUT ANY USAGE AT ALL USING AI ALGORITHMS OR GENERATIVE AI.
  • A COMPLETE AND TOTAL BAN OF GENERATIVE AI IN WEAPONRY & SURVEILLANCE.
• NO VAGUE LANGUAGE OR LOOPHOLES IN THESE CONTRACTS.
• STANDING WITH OUR FIRST AND FOURTH AMENDMENT RIGHTS. 

These contracts are not about keeping Americans safe. Generative AI having the power to kill and surveil people will only end in harm towards innocent people. One way or another, generative AI can harm you if this continues any longer. It doesn't matter if you're an enemy or not; generative AI is a glorified autocomplete that can, and WILL make mistakes. It will kill innocent people. IT HAS NO MORAL COMPASS. NO CONSCIOUSNESS. It will STOP AT NOTHING. Until these laws are in place, we will never be able to ensure the safety of the American people and other peoples across the world.

If we do not stand against this, we will become the tormented. We will become the endangered. Stop being silent. 

WE ARE NOT HOPELESS. Superheroes don't exist in the real world. A collective group of people fighting a common goal is our equivalent of a superhero. That can only be done if we stand together and speak up. This petition is a start, but not your final action. We are not powerless. Small changes are changes, and they add up to big ones.

FIGHT. If you cannot protest, create small changes. Delete your OpenAI account. If you wish to continue AI usage, please use a more ethical model and company. Preferably, limit your AI usage entirely.

Small steps are steps. If every one of us takes this small step, we work towards abolishing the usage of generative AI in war altogether.
