End Foreign Seller Domination on U.S. Marketplaces – Protect American Jobs
The Issue
Foreign sellers now dominate Amazon and other U.S. e-commerce platforms, pushing out American businesses and reshaping our economy without oversight. It’s time to restore fairness, accountability, and opportunity for U.S.-based sellers.
For decades, American entrepreneurs and marketplace sellers built Amazon into the world’s leading e-commerce platform. But today, we are being quietly pushed out—not by healthy competition, but by a coordinated, unchecked takeover by Chinese sellers who are exploiting the system.
According to Marketplace Pulse, over 60% of new sellers on Amazon.com USA are now based in China, and more than 50% of Amazon’s top USA sellers are Chinese.
Chinese sellers have invaded our economy—not with weapons, but with economic dominance. Without firing a single bullet, they have captured a critical portion of our digital infrastructure and commerce. This is not just business; this is the quiet theft of American wealth, jobs, and resources.
In most wars, countries fight to protect their resources—or to take others’. Today, Chinese sellers are draining the U.S. economy without conflict. They are taking our consumer dollars, removing our access to supply chains, and leaving no room for American businesses to grow.
These Chinese sellers:
- Operate directly from China without paying U.S. taxes or following U.S. regulations.
- Misuse Amazon’s Transparency program and file false counterfeit complaints to eliminate U.S. competition.
- Work with Chinese factories that refuse to sell to American resellers once they find out we sell on Amazon.
- Undercut pricing, ignore MAP policies, and bypass consumer protections U.S. businesses must follow.
Meanwhile, U.S. sellers are being: - Locked out of their own supply chains
- Removed from Amazon listings
- Silenced by counterfeit accusations
- Forced off the very platform we helped build
🏬 Imagine This:
If 60% of stores in a U.S. mall were foreign-owned, didn’t hire Americans, didn’t pay taxes, and kicked U.S. businesses out — would that be acceptable?
That’s exactly what’s happening on Amazon right now.
We Are Not Afraid of Competition — But This Is Not Competition
This is economic extraction. This is a digital invasion. This is the quiet invastion and capture of America’s digital marketplace.
📣 We Call on the U.S. Government to Take Action:
We urge the U.S. Trade Representative, FTC, Department of Commerce, and Congress to:
1. Investigate and regulate foreign seller access to U.S. online marketplaces like Amazon.
2. Enforce fair trade rules and stop Chinese sellers from excluding Americans from product listings and supply chains.
3. Crack down on misuse of Amazon's Transparency program and false IP/counterfeit claims.
4. Apply digital trade taxes and require Chinese sellers to follow the same tax and legal standards U.S. sellers must follow.
We've already lost countless American jobs in importing, distribution, marketing, warehousing, logistics, and customer service—entire industries built around e-commerce are being hollowed out as Chinese sellers bypass U.S. businesses and take control of the supply chain.
If we do not act now, the infrastructure of our economy—our e-commerce platforms—will be owned and controlled by those who have no stake in our future.
