End Exorbitant Fees Charged by the Nigerian Embassy in Rome

Il problema

As a Nigerian citizen living in Italy, I am deeply concerned about the excessive fees being charged by the Nigerian embassy in Rome. The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) clearly states on its official website that NIN registration/enrollment should be free. However, here in Italy, we are being charged between 50 to 100 euros for this service.

Furthermore, our passport fees have skyrocketed beyond comprehension. While it is stated that our passport should cost between 77 and 137 dollars (approximately 65 to 115 euros), we are instead being asked to pay over 600 and even up to a staggering amount of 1000 euros.

These exorbitant charges are not only unfair but also place an undue burden on jobless citizens who can barely afford these services. This practice contradicts the mission of our embassy which is supposed to protect and support us while abroad.

We urge the relevant authorities to investigate this matter urgently and ensure that these excessive fees are reduced immediately. We deserve fair treatment from our own embassy regardless of where we reside.
