I have been fired multiple times and denied work and wanted careers for my past mistakes even though they are 10+ years old. Despite showing my accomplishments and schooling since then, being honest and always polite, I have still been denied due to biased and discriminatory decisions. I have a drug offense and battery’s + a battery with a deadly weapon at the time I was doing what I thought was right a lot of the time fighting for other people or out of disrespect but as a pro fighter I should of not put myself in those situations, for the selling of drugs I did that for a long time growing up that’s how i was taught to survive on my own and it made me a lot of money. It was wrong and that’s why I teach other and speak to others about a better life, doing the right things to earn everything the right way. Felons deserve a second chance to rebuild their lives without being judged solely on their past mistakes. According to the National Institute of Justice, recidivism rates decrease significantly when former felons gain stable employment. Denying them this opportunity not only perpetuates a cycle of crime but also undermines public safety.

We urge lawmakers in Indiana to implement fair hiring practices that prevent discrimination against individuals with felony records. By doing so, we can create a more inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to contribute positively.
