Good Day: Thanks for signing - here is what you can do to help! A Special Commissioners meeting has been scheduled for January 18, 2018 at 6 PM in the Multi-Purpose Building, 543350 US HWY 1, Callahan, Florida to discuss our animal ordinance. Please act before January 18th - read on. In Nassau County, Florida all that is required is a dog receive food, water, a rabies vaccine and a three-sided box for shelter. Many dogs live their entire life on the end of a chain. A revised and update ordinance was submitted to County Commissioners that clearly defined humane parameters for shelter, water, food, animal enclosures, transporting animals in open vehicles and a prohibition of unattended tethering. Commissioners refused to even review the revisions. Here is what you can do to help. Send an e-mail to the Tim Maguire, the Director to Nassau County Animal Services asking him to urge commissioners to update the ordinance to improve animal welfare in Nassau County. If you are a resident of Nassau County be sure to state that in your e-mail. Without your support dogs will continue to needlessly suffer in Nassau County. tmaguire@nassaucountyfl.com Tim Maguire Commissioners: skelley@nassaucountyfl.com Steve Kelly dleeper@nassaucountyfl.com Danny Leeper gspicer@nassaucountyfl.com George Spicer pedwards@nassaucountyfl.com Pat Edwards jtaylor@nassaucountyfl.com Justin Taylor Thanks for speaking for those without a voice - Dr. David Fashingbauer
