Petition updateEnd Dog Chaining in FloridaNassau Commissioners delay decision to end dog chaining AGAIN!

Dr. David FashingbauerFernandina Beach, FL, United States

Dec 12, 2017
On November 27, 2017 Nassau County Commissioners were presented with a proposed revision of an animal ordinance that included language that would ban unattended tethering. The ordinance was written by the Director of Animal Control and yours truly. Commissioners rejected to revision and voted to form a committee to study the matter further.
Opinion: Committees generally delay and complicate the process by imposing their personal beliefs and opinions that create loopholes thereby weakening the ordinance making it more difficult to enforce. Committees give the commissioners an excuse not to make tough decisions. The commissioners asked the committee present a new ordinance by February 6, 2017.
Thank you for following this topic and e-mailing the commissioners. During the last meeting one commissioner said, "I received forty-three emails in the past three days from all over the world on this topic."
