End discriminatory practices at Meru International School

The Issue

Meru International School is currently engaging in discriminatory practices by segregating students based on their academic performance. This policy is not only unfair but also a stark violation of students' rights, as determined by the Supreme Court of India. It is imperative that we put a stop to this practice and ensure a more inclusive educational environment for all students.

In July 2025, the Supreme Court of India delivered a landmark ruling that prohibits the segregation of students in educational institutions on the basis of their academic achievements. This ruling was a crucial step toward combating the increasing number of student suicides, which the Supreme Court described as a "systemic failure" of the educational system. Despite this clear legal directive, Meru International School continues to segregate students, disregarding the court's decision and the well-being of its students.

This practice not only undermines the self-esteem and mental health of students but also fosters an environment of inequality and discrimination. The psychological harm inflicted by such practices cannot be overstated, as students categorised as 'low performers' often face stigma, isolation, and increased pressure, which can adversely impact their mental health and academic prospects.

Moreover, the Supreme Court guidelines clearly emphasize the equal right of all students to quality education devoid of discrimination. Disregarding these guidelines is not only unlawful but deeply unethical.

It is time for the management of Meru International School, located in Madinaguda, Hyderabad, Telangana, to adhere to the legal standards set forth by the Supreme Court and create an inclusive, supportive, and nurturing educational environment. We urge the Telangana State Ministry of Education to take immediate action against this discriminatory practice and ensure compliance with the Supreme Court ruling.

Please join us in this crucial fight for educational equality and student well-being by signing this petition. Together, we can make a difference and protect the rights of every student. Your support can bring about change and foster an educational system where merit, equality, and inclusion are paramount. Sign this petition to make your voice heard!
