End Discrimination Against Bachelor Tenants in Housing Societies

End Discrimination Against Bachelor Tenants in Housing Societies
The Issue
I am a bachelor tenant, like millions of others in our country, yet I feel unwelcome in many housing societies merely because of my marital status. Boards stating "Bachelor tenants not allowed" create an atmosphere of unjust discrimination that infringes our fundamental rights as citizens.
This very personal experience is unfortunately widespread, essentially segregating housing communities based on marital status.
Upon further analysis, it becomes clear that this issue affects a significant portion of our population. According to a national survey, there are over 70 million bachelor tenants in the country.
This discriminatory practice is not only against our fundamental rights but also violates the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights which states that "Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state" (Article 13). This declaration, applied universally, clearly includes bachelors as a part of 'everyone.'
It's time we change these societal norms and abolish this form of discrimination. We urge housing societies across the country to remove such discouraging and disrespectful boards and allow bachelor tenants with equal dignity and respect.
Sign this petition to stand against this form of prejudice and to support bachelor tenants like me in their fight for fair treatment and equal rights within our housing societies.
