I write to you not just as a member of the Cleveland community, but as a family member who has personally witnessed the dark underbelly of corruption in our judicial system. Through the painful experience of witnessing my family member, Gianni Gray, I have discovered just how deep this corruption lies. Despite federal findings that Gray's arrest was unconstitutional, he has been sentenced to 84 years to life in prison, without even being indicted by a grand jury. His rights were blatantly disregarded and this occurred within the confines of our city's government.

This incident permeates through every level, from the detectives involved, their superiors, the Cuyahoga County Clerk, the judges, and even the public information officer. This incident is not isolated. In fact, Cleveland and Cuyahoga County have a rich history of corruption surfacing every few years. Such instances reflect the systematic issues that require immediate rectification.

We cannot let this injustice persist, not just for my family but for the sake of justice and for the countless innocent individuals who have been or who could potentially be victims of this corrupt system. We call on our elected officials to instigate a thorough investigation into this matter, and to rid our community of the corruption that discredits the very notion of justice.
