In Genesee County, Michigan, a grim reality looms over the most vulnerable citizens—the justice system, riddled with corruption, seems to serve the interests of profit over the principles of justice. This is glaringly evident through the harrowing experience of a close friend who has been incarcerated for 18 frustrating months. Despite undeniable proof of evidence tampering and allegations of lies within official reports, his attempts to achieve justice with the help of a public defender were futile. Each revelation uncovered a disturbing pattern of protectionism and manipulation by those in power, underscoring a deeply rooted corruption that purportedly serves those with influence while neglecting the needs of ordinary residents.

Flint, a community teetering under economic strain, hosts some of Michigan's poorest individuals who rely heavily on fair legal representation to navigate an already challenging system. Yet, public defenders seem overburdened and under-resourced— a combination that severely hampers the delivery of justice. For many, the struggle for a fair trial is overshadowed by systemic failures where accountability is skewed, and legal consequences seem defined not by truth, but by socio-economic status.

The prevailing practices within Genesee County's law enforcement and judicial bodies demand urgent reform. Steps must be taken to ensure transparency, impartiality, and justice for all. The government, Flint Township Police Department, the prosecutor's office, public defenders, and even judges must be held accountable. Measures such as independent oversight committees, audits, and community watchdog groups could play pivotal roles in dismantling these deeply entrenched practices.

By signing this petition, we collectively voice our demand for integrity and fairness in the justice system of Genesee County. For Flint’s residents to feel truly protected and represented by the law, comprehensive changes are not just necessary, they are quintessential. Join us in advocating for a system that prioritizes justice above profits, giving a fair chance to everyone, irrespective of their economic status or background. Through unified action, we can forge a path towards an equitable and just Genesee County.

PS - Further to this, my friends mail has been stopped, both ingoing and outgoing.  His commissary account was blocked for months, because of “too much money” being deposited - which was never above the limit, and even his legal mail is being opened and reviewed and then sent back to the sender.

The court has hidden documents, rejected FOIA requests, stating they are non-public, rerouted motions so that they are not in either court case file, and has continued to use the excuse that it may be because he is “doing them wrong” and an attorney would “do them right”, essentially putting him in a position to be forced to take an attorney, the same one that had let him down repeatedly (the public defenders office). 

The evidence consists of falsified probable cause statements, search warrants carried out before authorized, redacted information on even the evidence going to my friend for his defense.  A search warrant that never existed until now was recently “produced”, information that would exonerate him is being suppressed, and this information can all be proven if someone (attorney is willing to meet with him)/(media is willing to investigate Genesee County Government).
