Petition updateEnd CFPB delay on unemployment & health coverage for fired workersCFPB & United Healthcare cancel insurance too soon, while workers still lack unemployment paperwork

Illegally fired workers are now experiencing errors in health insurance enrollment, resulting in cancelled coverage with Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Healthcare, despite the requirement for insurers to continue coverage for 31 days after separation:

"My doctor’s office called to say my insurance is no longer active."

"United Healthcare transferred me 5 times and then said they would get back to me on Monday"

"I got the runaround from BFS, who blames the insurer, who blames CFPB HR."

"My enrollment information disappeared, then it appeared again, then it disappeared again."

"What an effing mess."

This disaster is unfolding while CFPB’s Benefits office is currently “not taking calls.”

It is unacceptable for CFPB to fire hundreds of people without dedicating enough staff to even process the paperwork. Now CFPB adds insult to injury by cancelling health insurance early—denying access to medication and necessary health care. This is an emergency for our colleagues who have newborns and loved ones relying on the 31-day grace period that has now unexpectedly disappeared.

Please share our petition with 5 friends and family members now. It's URGENT that Adam Martinez, Chief Human Capital Officer at CFPB, immediately authorize all Human Capital staff to work to resolve this offboarding chaos immediately, and stop holding unemployment & health insurance hostage. Workers earned it and CFPB owes it!
