After spending so much time online only, the campaign is beginning move into the real world too! The first petition posters have now been put up, and hopefully will begin to generate more interest in the petition.
If you think that you know somewhere that you could put up some posters, your help would be amazing! Places like shops or cafes often have public notice boards which are ideal for putting the new campaign posters on! If you would like some posters, please send an email to lucygavaghan.cagecampaign@gmail.com including, your address and the number of posters you would like (using ‘campaign posters’ as the subject). The more people who get involved and distribute posters, the more people will see the petition and potentially go on to add their signature. Just one poster has the power to reach so many people, so please do help if you can!
In other news, I am now a finalist for the Young Animal Enthusiast of the Year award at the Animal Hero’s Awards ceremony this Wednesday! The Animal Hero awards are a celebration of people and animals who have made a contribution to the Animal world in some way. The awards are hosted by Amanda Holden and attended by many animal loving celebrities! There are some incredible people who have been nominated, and I am honoured to even be considered for an award. I could hardly believe it when I heard the news, and I would like to thank you all so much for making this happen. Without your ongoing support throughout all of my petitions, I could never have possibly reached this point. The nomination is proof that the issue of caged hen farming, has not and will not go unrecognised. Clearly, people care that the food they are buying is being sourced from animals that are being kept in an environment where they can express natural behaviour in a system that they are not restricted or confined in.
For more regular updates, on the night of the awards, and throughout the petition please follow me on Twitter (@LucyGavaghan) or find the Facebook page (End caged hen farming in the UK).
Please continue to share the petition in the same incredible way I know you have done before!
Thank you
Lucy
