Petition updateEnd Breed Specific Legislation in Prince George's County, MDWe need you more than ever - Take Action to Repeal BSL
Prince George’s Pet Unity ProjectMD, United States

We lost. We aren’t giving up but right now we need your help. One of the benefits of the lawsuit was that enforcement of the “pitbull ban” was paused in Prince George’s County during the mediations.  Now that the lawsuit has been decided in the favor of the county on procedural reasons, the pause is OVER.

County Executive Angela Alsobrooks holds the sole power and can reinstate enforcement at any moment, putting approximately 28,000 families and their approximately 37,000 pets at risk of being discriminated against and separated unnecessarily.

We need every single Marylander to gather everyone they know and call, write, email Angela Alsobrooks (every. single. day.) to request that she extend the pause in enforcement of the ban and to seriously consider breed neutral legislation.  Let her know that we Marylanders will not vote her to higher office (Senate) while she continues to uphold archaic, discriminatory and wasteful laws that prevent her constituents from having access to resources that improve their lives and safety- despite overwhelming evidence that the laws are bad for people and pets.

This is a moment where all of us impacted by this legislation need to set aside any differences in opinions and mobilize together for the dogs and families that could be immediately impacted. We are asking all supporters, rescue partners, vets, volunteers, citizens, influencers, independent activists and friends to share a unified, clear and consistent message. Our website has the links to the suggested email- please use it, share it and add yourself to our mailing list where we will continue to update as we learn more.

If you don’t live in Maryland but want to see the laws change, help fuel our efforts through sharing, donating and raising awareness of this situation

We will continue to do everything we can to keep pets and people together, and can’t do it without you.
