The Issue

Craig Coleman was convicted of manufacturing child sexual abuse material in 2017. In 2023, he was charged again for possession of new material and was granted bail while awaiting sentencing.

Now he's been arrested once more—this time for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl while out on bail. Officials say he recorded the abuse, paid the girl, and tried to intimidate her into staying silent.

This should never have happened.

Pennsylvania lawmakers have the power to prevent tragedies like this by closing dangerous bail loopholes just like other states have. In New Jersey, Texas, and California, courts can already deny bail to repeat violent offenders and those charged with serious child sex crimes. Yet in Pennsylvania, a known predator with a documented history of abuse was allowed to walk free only to allegedly abuse again.

No child should ever be put at risk because the system failed to hold repeat predators accountable.

We’re calling on the Pennsylvania Legislature and Attorney General Michelle Henry to take immediate action: ban bail for anyone with prior convictions for child sexual abuse who is facing new charges.

Protect kids. Stop the cycle. Close this loophole now.
