As the tourist season winds down in Saranda, the ongoing misery and suffering of animals is in full swing here.

Recently, a Romanian tourist found these abandoned puppies along the road to Saranda, took them to a local veterinary clinic for immediate care, and paid to board them for two days.

What happens next? 

Tourists leave town. Abused and abandoned animals mostly stay. Occasionally tourists adopt dogs and cats and take them to their home countries. Occasionally. 

The few volunteers who work tirelessly to help animals in need are run ragged and spread thin. Caring for these dogs and cats takes time, energy, and money — all in short supply.

Now — without an influx of tourists to bring these issues to the attention of city leaders — it’s more important than ever to sign this petition.
