Dear Petition Signers,
We see that 330 people have signed this petition to end HOA abuses. Thank you all. It appears that more than 200 of these signers are residents of Montgomery County, Maryland.
Those of you who live within MoCo, please take this short survey, provided by the county – 2024 Online Community Survey – concerning how well our government is performing. My response will emphasize that our County Commission on Common Ownership (CCOC) is unable to fix or even take a look at the most serious HOA abuses against homeowners. I will also ask that our county executive, Marc Elrich (he's a progressive, right?) take immediate steps (executive actions) to quickly curb the worst business practices of HOAs and their hired hands (property management, debt collectors, attorneys, etc.) The most powerful message is when you write about your personal experiences.
Those of you who live within MoCo, please also watch for these email updates. We are working to create a place where homeowners can join together in an effort to reform our Maryland state laws. I'm no expert at doing that. We are moving slowly and carefully. As you know, HOAs threaten you for trying to speak the truth. And there are many bad actors on the internet generally who would sabotage a community space just for fun.
Please stay hopeful. Thank you for your patience and concern.
Sincerely,
Steven S. Lapham
24-year resident of Quail Valley HOA
