Dear Signers of the HOA Reform Petition, 

Thank you for helping us reach the goal of 200 signers. We are striving for the next level of achievement (500 signers), so please continue to share the URL, Change.org/ReformHOAs, with everyone. 

As creator of this petition, I cannot see your email address. But I can see your name, city, and state. About 50 of you seem to be living in my HOA community.  Many others live in Maryland. But I can see that some of you are from Arizona, California, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Illinois, Nebraska, Washington ... it goes on and on. HOA are harming homeowners in every state of the union. Let's pause to think about this situation for a moment. 

Maybe it would be useful for you, in your state, to post a similar petition on PATCH.com. Crib text from this petition if you wish, if the words accurately describe what people are suffering in your state. Put the name of your state in the title of your petition. Then you can collect names and write directly to your co-citizens, as I am doing here. 

You can read about HOA abuses and the need for reform all over the USA at this website, a key resource that I recommend: IndependentAmericanCommunities.com. Some great reforms are already beginning to happen in various states. That is hopeful. Contact housing justice organizations in your city, county, and state, and ask if they'd be willing to work with you. Reach out to help them. 

I cannot offer you my personal email address, because that inbox "already overfloweth." But once we have a civic advocacy organization up and running, there will be an address and an internet site where Marylanders can communicate with each other about HOA and condo association homeowner grievances and potential reforms in our state. Let's dream about that happening in every state. And then act. You can help to make it happen in the state where you live.
