As a passionate community member, I have seen how big chain stores like Target and Costco can transform a neighborhood – bringing with them a variety of other stores we desire and crave. The concern is that if we do not invite these businesses to our community, we might have another Walmart store, which is not what we currently need. Can you imagine having a Costco gas station at the 202? 😮💙

Establishing Target and Costco in our community will not only offer us more shopping options but will also invigorate the local economy by providing several job opportunities. According to a study by the Economic Policy Institute, one Costco store creates an average of 200 jobs (Hansen, 2013), and another research states that Target employs approximately 90-100 people per store (Hoover's Inc., 2019). 

They also support local communities through corporate responsibility initiatives. Target, for example, has a legacy of giving 5% of its profit, which translates to more than $4 million per week to local communities (Target Corporate Responsibility Report, 2018).
