Encourage Morrisville to Save Summer Children's Library Program & Hire a Library Director

Encourage Morrisville to Save Summer Children's Library Program & Hire a Library Director
The Issue
Free summer library programs for children sit at the heart of our Bucks County communities. Unfortunately for Morrisville Borough and the surrounding communities, the planned activities scheduled for July and August are vulnerable to being canceled, per Morrisville Borough Council.
The Morrisville library branch is experiencing significant staffing changes. Previously, the staff was recognized for its supportive and community-oriented approach, demonstrating a commitment to the library's role as a community asset.
The Director of the Morrisville library branch retired a few months ago. Additionally, the children's librarian has submitted her resignation, effective at the end of June. However, she has finalized, advertised, and secured funding for the summer schedule prior to her departure. These two resignations represent substantial personnel changes for the library.
At present, the Borough Council has decided that canceling the remainder of children's activities for July and August is the only solution to our predicament. This would diminish not only the quality of summer fun and learning for Borough tax-payers, voters and nearby residents, but also potentially the ability for the library to raise money from future sponsors of these events.
The remaining library staff has offered to cover additional shifts to prevent the cancellation of scheduled programs. The timely appointment of a new Director could be essential for managing this process and mitigating future staffing challenges.
We are asking for signatures to help us show Morrisville Borough Council how important these programs are and how they should not be cancelled. Additionally, how imperative it is that they begin to really intensify their efforts to replace our library Director. We thank you so much for helping support such a historic and essential part of our community.
