I just got off the phone with our local councilor, Chris Leahy. Whitby has pulled the permit to build the regulator station in front of our house. Enbridge is going to come back with alternatives and present them to the community. I think everyone agrees that there are safety concerns with its current location. Our fight was against the secrecy and serious concerns around the selection of location and safety that needed to be addressed. Special thank you to everyone who signed the petition, participated in our social media campaign, shared our information and wrote to politicians. Your efforts made a difference and we were able to hold Enbridge and Whitby staff accountable. Two of our elected representatives I would like to thank. Chris Leahy for escalating this to senior management, putting it on the town council agenda and pushing for a better solution. Lorne Coe and staff for pushing the MTO to respond and pressure Enbridge at the provincial level. This should never have happened in the first place. I'm glad it is over and I think we've all learned from it. Again, thank you. I will keep you posted as I get more news about new proposed locations.
