Enact the Black Lives Matter Act: A Push for Legislative Action

Enact the Black Lives Matter Act: A Push for Legislative Action
The Issue
As a 12-year-old youth in this era of the U.S., I faced racism firsthand thanks to being a Black American. I also understand the struggle we face in the U.S., which I believe is an extra intrinsic motivation of mine to be very passionate about civil rights. That is why I came to the nation to present this petition after a year of advocacy and establishing my Black Empowerment Project.
We demand that Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) & Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D-5 NJ) sponsor and introduce the Black Lives Matter Act (Linked below) into Congress and that the 119th Congress enact the legislation.
Since 1968, with the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, there has been no landmark civil & voting rights legislation passed through the US federal government. There is a need in 2025, with DEI in the federal government remove it, and yet 50% of Americans believe that it is needed (Pew Research Center, 2023), police brutality is raging, with under 4,000 Black people killed by police last year and 29 US states enacting restrictive voting rights laws since the Shelby County v. Holder (2013) US Supreme Court case over ten years ago.
The Black Lives Matter Act includes provisions that, if enacted would end racial & religious profiling, enact a new coverage formula to reinstate Section 4(b) of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 that was struck down by the Shelby County v. Holder case, restore DEI in the federal workplace and mandate DEI offices and officers in all public schools and school districts, mandate Black history and Critical Race Theory be taught in all schools in Grades 3-12, makes Juneteenth a public holiday, increases hate crime punishments and has a 2 phase plan to help middle class and poor students with student loans debt along with helping underprivileged and underserved people attain a job.
We call on Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) & Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ 5) to introduce this legislation into Congress, and that the US 119th Congress to enact the legislation before we call on President Trump to sign it into law. To further support the cause, you can lobby your Senators to support the introduction of this legislation and for Congress to pass it once it is introduced. You can also sign the petition and donate so that we can get more signatures before we present it to the Senator.
