Enact Stringent Laws to Penalize Corrupt Politicians for Treason

Enact Stringent Laws to Penalize Corrupt Politicians for Treason
The Issue
As a Canadian citizen, I've witnessed the devastating effects of political corruption on our society. Inflation has skyrocketed, increasing homelessness by up to 80% in cities across the country. Regular families are struggling to afford basic groceries due to exorbitant prices caused by the misuse of our nation's funds for selfish acts.
This is not just an economic issue; it's a moral one. When prime ministers or regular politicians decide to steal money meant for public use, they're committing an act of treason against their own people. We need laws that reflect this reality and hold such individuals accountable.
When Justin Trudeau ran for office in 2015, he promised Canadians a more open and transparent government.
An investigation by CBC News reveals, however, that the Trudeau government hasn't been entirely transparent about where the COVID-19 aid worth $240 billion has gone.
The work of House of Commons committees that normally would probe government spending programs — such as the Finance committee — has been disrupted, first by the government's move to prorogue Parliament and then by Liberal filibusters.
Canada is known worldwide as a beacon of democracy and justice, but these values are being undermined by those who put personal gain above public good. It's time we take action against this corruption that threatens our society and economy.
We propose implementing strict laws that would hold corrupt politicians accountable for treasonous acts, with penalties severe enough to deter such behavior in future - including considering capital punishment as an extreme measure.
This isn't about revenge; it's about justice and safeguarding our nation’s future from those who would exploit it for personal gain. Let us stand together as Canadians demanding accountability from those entrusted with leading us forward.
Please sign this petition if you believe in a Canada where honesty prevails over corruption, where leaders serve their people instead of themselves.
