As a former patron of the Cleveland Public Library system, I had the privilege of using the Libby app by OverDrive. This application allowed me to enjoy eBooks, digital audiobooks, and magazines from my local library at any time and from anywhere. The convenience of streaming titles with Wi-Fi or mobile data, downloading them for offline use, and automatic return at the end of loan periods without late fees was truly transformative. It even helped me engage my nieces and nephews in reading as an alternative to TV.

However, after moving to Osceola County in Florida, I found that our public library system does not offer access to this wonderful resource. This means that adults, teens, and children here are missing out on a wealth of knowledge and entertainment that could be available at their fingertips.

In 2019 alone, OverDrive reported a record-breaking 326 million digital book checkouts worldwide through its app Libby (source: OverDrive). This demonstrates how popular and beneficial this service is globally.

We believe it's time for change in Osceola County. We call upon our local public library system to join forces with OverDrive's Libby app so we too can enjoy easy access to eBooks, digital audiobooks and magazines from our own library.
