The Issue

Statement of Purpose:

We, the concerned citizens of the Philippines, advocate for the immediate integration of a comprehensive digital literacy curriculum from elementary to senior high education. In an increasingly digital world, equipping our youth with essential digital skills is no longer optional—it is a necessity for their future success and well-being.

Why This Issue Matters:

Today’s youth are growing up in a world saturated with technology. However, mere exposure to digital devices does not equate to digital literacy. A structured digital literacy curriculum will empower students to to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly, develop critical thinking skills to evaluate online information, use technology effectively for learning and problem-solving, create digital content and express themselves creatively, and prepare for future careers in a digital economy.

Without these skills, they can be left behind exposed in risks in a rapidly evolving world.

Call to Action

We urge the Department of Education (DepEd) to:

1. Develop and implement a comprehensive digital literacy curriculum for elementary schools, aligned with international standards and best practices.

2. Provide adequate training and resources for teachers to effectively deliver digital literacy instruction.

3. Ensure equitable access to technology and internet connectivity for all students, regardless of their socioeconomic background.

4. Regularly assess and update the curriculum to keep pace with technological advancements.

Sign this petition to show your support for empowering our students with the digital skills they need to thrive in the 21st century. Together, we can ensure that every Filipino youth has the opportunity to succeed in the digital age.
