The Chechen people, estimated to be around 2 million, live in the Caucasus mountains in the Chechen Republic of Russia. They speak in their own language; the Chechen language, have a different culture with unique traditions such as the beautiful dance of lezginka, and follow a religion different to the Russian church.

Most people assume Chechens are Russian. However, they are from another race as well. Chechens descend from the Caucasus mountains while the majority of Russians are Slavic. Because the Chechen people have almost no representation and recognition, the goal of this petition is to change it.

Our goal is to convince Apple Inc. to create an emoji of the flag of the Chechen Republic. There are seperate flag emojis of Scotland, Wales, and England as well, even though they are in the same kingdom. The Chechen people differ in many ways from the Russian majority and wish to be represented in any way. By creating an emoji, the Chechens can proudly show their ethnicity.
