Greetings to you all,
The aim of this petition is to obtain fairer Transatlantic plane fares to the French Overseas Departments and Territories.
None should have to spend astronimical amounts of moneys to go and visit their families. Gathering with our loved ones is a basic need.
A return ticket towards Guadeloupe cost on average 1500€ per person during the most cherished times of Christmas, or the summer holidays. This is despicable.
Those tariffs need to be capped in order to enable families to gather together on each occasion. Many families end up in debt to do so, rarely, or never make those special family journey. This is painful to experience. 4500€ is the price to pay for a family of 3 ( 2 adults and 1 child). Who, in France, can pay this amount to visit their loved ones?
The Christmas holidays are, just one example, and not the only one, of the numerous missed opportunities that far too many French Caribbean citizens miss because they reside in France. This is cruel.
Just like any other French person living in France, we want, because we are also French, to be able to return to our native islands, for holidays, with those financial constraints. These are actually outrageous, and they have been for far too long.
We do not intend to rewrite History, but we can, and we must change the future.
We are relying on our Government to act in our favour. Should we consider their a Status Quo as a discriminating decision ? Corsica , has, and rightly so, such beneficiary tariffs. Why don’t the French Overseas Departments and Territoires ?
