The Issue

We, the undersigned members of the community, respectfully submit this petition to urge that Emily’s murder case be prosecuted with the full seriousness warranted by the facts and applicable Missouri law.

This petition is not intended to interfere with judicial proceedings, influence a jury, or substitute public opinion for evidence. Rather, it serves to formally convey the depth of community concern and the expectation that charging and resolution decisions reflect the severity of the offense and the gravity of the harm caused.

Those signing this petition respectfully request that the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office pursue charges consistent with the evidence and the law, and that all legally available penalties be fully and meaningfully considered, including consideration of capital punishment where statutory criteria under Missouri law are met.

We further urge that any resolution of this case prioritize accountability and public safety, and that no reduced charges or premature plea agreements be considered where they would diminish the seriousness of the offense or fail to reflect the full scope of the harm caused.

This petition is submitted in recognition of the Prosecuting Attorney’s discretion and responsibilities, and with respect for the integrity of the judicial process.
