Thank you so much to everyone who has signed and supported this petition — your voices are being heard.
This week, a letter I wrote about the issue was published in the Mornington Peninsula News, bringing even more public attention to the devastating impact of excessive vegetation removal on our local wildlife.
And — thanks to your support — the petition has now been formally tabled for the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council meeting on Tuesday, 20 May 2025.
Council has confirmed:
“We have received your petition regarding Vegetation Removal. This petition will be listed at the Council Meeting to be held on Tuesday, 20 May 2025. If you would like to provide us with an update on the number of signatories, please do so by 5.00pm Monday, 12 May. An ‘Immediate Comment’ for the Council Meeting Agenda will be provided by the Shire’s Team Leader – Open Space. After the Council Meeting they will be in touch with you regarding progress on the matter.”
This issue is not over — we need to keep the momentum going.
Please keep sharing the petition, and if you haven’t already, reach out to your local councillor to tell them why our native trees and wildlife matter.
