Julian Assange has been imprisoned for 1491 days.

On the occasion of the coronation of UK's new king Julian Assange wrote a letter to King Charles III inviting him to visit Belmarsh prison. Assange who has spent 1490 days in Britain's category A prison has first time written and released something since his stay in London's Belmarsh jail.

"On the coronation of my liege, I thought it only fitting to extend a heartfelt invitation to you to commemorate this momentous occasion by visiting your very own kingdom within a kingdom: His Majesty’s Prison Belmarsh."

"As a political prisoner, held at Your Majesty’s pleasure on behalf of an embarrassed foreign sovereign, I am honoured to reside within the walls of this world class institution. Truly, your kingdom knows no bounds."

President of Brazil, Lula da Silva, after attending King Charles III Coronation in London called the imprisonment of Julian Assange "shameful", urges worldwide movement for his freedom. "It is a shame that Assange, a journalist who denounced fraud by one state against another, is in prison and we do nothing to free him. I think there needs to be a worldwide press movement in defense of his freedom, but also the freedom to denounce things."

The Australian cross-party parliamentary group to Free Assange has met with the US Ambassador Caroline Kennedy to discuss the "widespread concern in Australia about the ongoing attempts by the US to extradite Mr Assange to America." This comes after both the Australian Prime Minister and Opposition Leader last week expressed their views saying this matter had gone on long enough.

Last week Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he was "frustrated for not yet finding a diplomatic fix over the continued detention of Julian Assange and that he remained concerned about his mental health. There is nothing to be served by his ongoing incarceration. And the US administration is certainly very aware of what the Australian government's position is." The Australian opposition leader Peter Dutton has first time publicly expressed his views on the Assange case and agrees with Albanese that the "case has gone on for too long."

The US government officials were put under pressure when asked about the ongoing prosecution of Julian Assange. White House Press Secretary refused to answer question when asked about criticism of double standards in calling for the release of Evan Gershkovich, while pursuing prosecution of Assange.

This happened on World Press Freedom Day at the DC Forum when protesters confronted Secretary of State Antony Blinken on stage over over the Biden administration’s continued prosecution of the WikiLeaks founder. The deputy spokesperson for the State Department Vedant Patel, was also pushed by reporters on this hypocrisy. When questioned on Assange and the double standard of being for a free press unless it highlights US policy failures, he refused to answer or to acknowledge Assange as a journalist.

The same day at at opening ceremony of UNESCO's World Press Freedom Day Global Conference, Amnesty International Secretary General Agnes Callamard brought up Julian's case saying "It is not just what is happening Iran or in Russia that should worry us, it is also what's happening here, who is imprisoning Julian Assange?"

President of Committee to Protect Journalists Jodie Ginsberg also spoke at Unesco World Press Freedom Day event: "The one thing the US could concretely do, is drop the charges against Julian Assange, its a charge that if brought to fruition, could effectively criminalize journalism everywhere"

Meanwhile Marianne Williamson, former US presidential candidate commented on World Press Freedom Day that "it’s not just something to celebrate; it’s something to live up to. Julian Assange should not be in Belmarsh prison. I would drop the charges against Assange on Day One."

Robert F Kennedy who recently announced his presidential candidacy has promised to pardon Julian Assange if elected as president of the United States. "Instead of championing free speech, the U.S. actively persecutes journalists and whistleblowers. I’ll pardon brave truth-tellers like Julian Assange and investigate the corruption and crimes they exposed. This isn’t the Soviet Union. The America I love doesn’t imprison dissidents"
