Dear Elon Musk

My name is German Ochoa, professor at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. I am representing a considerable part of the community living in the Amazon region of Colombia, more precisely in a town called Leticia located on the border with Brazil and Peru. If you take the world map, we are right in the middle of the most important tropical ecosystem of the world. Still, we are far away from everywhere, which is why I am contacting you. I am confident that you can play a pivotal role in changing how regions such as the Amazon connect with the world and have a better life.

The Amazon region has the most challenging access in all possible senses, and the Internet is not the exception. This difficulty in mobility is the result of geographical and historical reasons. Still, at the same time, no region in the world can lead the most critical opportunities to develop a sustainability model for the future of humankind. The main objective of this letter is to propose you have a meeting to create a model of internet connectivity in the Amazon region, using the Starlink system, to bring not only data connectivity and progress to the area but also, to open the Amazon to the world.

At the end of this letter, you will find my contact information and the signature of thousands of inhabitants of the region, who believe in the great opportunity that we have with this proposal. Extraordinary projects need great ideas and people, and these are the opportunities we would like to challenge with your support and the great spirit of our people.
