For many hard-working individuals like myself. Two jobs are a necessity to make ends meet and support our families. I pull long hours in overtime and work a second job. Often driving myself to exhaustion. Missing family events and time with my children. Just to provide for those I care about. This struggle is compounded by unjust taxation on the income from my second job which earns less and the unjust taxation on my overtime. 

Strong economic nations like the United States are able to thrive due to the contributory efforts of the working class citizens. However, it's a grim reality that these men and women are being over-taxed on additional income that they earn from overtime and secondary jobs. 

The current tax code places millions of hard-working Americans in a position where more labor does not equal more income, disincentivizing hard work and economic growth. 

Most Americans – about three quarters – live paycheck to paycheck, with almost 70% of them having less than $1,000 in their savings accounts (GOBankingRates). Given these figures, elimination of the overtime tax and second part-time job income would be a lifeline for families living on the edge of financial disaster.

This petition calls for a reevaluation of tax laws that unfairly target citizens who, by necessity or choice, choose to work additional hours or jobs. We believe that eliminating this unfair tax policy will not only benefit struggling families, but will also benefit our economy by promoting work and reducing financial stress which can be a barrier to productivity.
