Only 3 states in the U.S. charge a “hybrid fee” when purchasing a license plate and Mississippi charges the highest fee at $85!!  It is ridiculous that the renewal cost on a used Hybrid SUV that is only worth $30,000 be almost $700 without any personalization. Hybrid vehicles still use gasoline, meaning owners already contribute to state infrastructure through gas taxes.! This additional fee is unfair and discourages environmentally friendly choices. Sign this petition to urge Mississippi lawmakers to eliminate the hybrid vehicle tax registration fee!!
