In memory of the 64 tragic passings aboard the American Airlines Flight 5342 due to a US Army helicopter flying at an incorrect altitude, we pour our hearts out and turn our grief into action; we are petitioning to change the air traffic regulations at Reagan Airport. The current helicopter flight path under runway 3-3 has proven to be an accident-prone zone and poses a great threat to passenger safety. This incident is a chilling reminder of how vital the correct allocation of airspace is. It is crucial that helicopter flight paths do not intersect with airplane runways at any commercial airport and especially not at Reagan Airport, given its high traffic volume.
