Eliminate PlayStation Network's Requirement for Server Usage Charges and more

The Issue

We, the undersigned, are loyal PlayStation users who believe that access to PlayStation Network (PSN) services should be free, particularly for features necessary to play games we have already purchased.

Many of us have been dedicated PlayStation users since childhood. PlayStation isn’t just a brand to us-it’s a part of our lives, filled with countless unforgettable experiences. Yet, it deeply saddens us to see how PlayStation Network (PSN) restricts us from fully enjoying our console games without forcing us to register for paid network services. Worse still, when the network crashes, we are locked out of most of our games-a frustrating scenario that has happened more often than it should.

This raises a crucial question: why should we, the gamers, bear the double burden of purchasing expensive games and then paying additional fees just to access online features? The high cost of the console itself should already account for network access. However, Sony has continued to charge users for PSN services without providing a reasonable justification.

With nearly 114 million active users on PSN (as per a Statista report from Q4 2020), we know that our voices matter. It’s time for Sony to recognise our concerns and respect its user base by reconsidering the current PSN policy. Removing unnecessary financial barriers will not only ease the burden on millions of players but also foster a greater sense of fairness within the PlayStation gaming community.

We respectfully demand that Sony:

  •  Remove mandatory PSN connections for single-player and offline gameplay.
  • Provide free online multiplayer access for all PlayStation owners, just as PC gaming platforms do.
  •  Ensure users retain full control of their purchased content without being forced into additional fees.

PlayStation has always been about the players. If Sony truly values its community, it will listen to our concerns and make gaming a more accessible and enjoyable experience for all.

Join us in this movement. Let’s stand together and demand a fair and unrestricted PlayStation gaming experience. Your signature can make a real difference.
