I am a student getting ticketed just for parking at my own school, Maple Mountain High School. Parking passes are required even though, legally speaking, we should never have to pay to park at a public institution we are mandated by law to attend. To spell it out more clearly, we, the students, are being charged fees to commute to and from our legally required education. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the cost of high school attendance should be minimized to allow equal access for all students. Their research reveals that additional costs, like parking fees, adversely affect the ability of some families to send their children to school - and that's not right.

Therefore, we are asking for the immediate abolition of the parking pass system at Maple Mountain High School. By signing this petition, you are supporting stoppage of this cumbersome requirement that unfairly burdens students and their families.
