As a student attending RSU 67, I find myself continuously faced with the stress induced by the IXL learning system. It is a platform that unfortunately, rather than assisting my learning, only contributes to my anxiety levels. Every average school day, we, the students, are forced to partake in this learning system which, instead of encouraging us, allegedly degrades our enthusiasm for education.

Every step towards completion is a nerve-wracking ordeal, since getting a single question wrong can drop my scores dramatically, from a 78 to a 63, for instance. This system seems not to be designed to facilitate learning but to escalate stress and anxiety. It is important to note that a survey carried out by the American Psychological Association stated that nearly half of all teens (45%) reported feeling stressed by school, allowing room to contemplate, isn't it time we re-evaluate how education is delivered? This petition aims to abolish the use of IXL in our RSU 67 schools. It is crucial that we switch to a learning platform that fosters an encouraging environment, to nurture our development and interest in learning, rather than creating an obstacle course of stress.
