Eliminate Emission Requirements for Diesel Vehicles

The Issue

As a business owner in the construction industry I rely on my equipment being able to perform reliably. The increased restrictions placed on our pickup trucks, semi trucks, and off road equipment has created equipment that is no longer anywhere as reliable as the old stuff once was. The manufacturing process of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) and the disposable containers that house it are, I believe, causing more environmental harm than the emissions produced by diesel vehicles themselves.

Imagine a world where diesel vehicles could operate without the constraints of costly and environmentally damaging emissions control systems. The production of DEF involves significant energy consumption and results in carbon emissions that we are, ironically, trying to avoid with its use.

According to a report from the International Council on Clean Transportation, the production cycle of DEF containers contributes to a substantial percentage of plastic waste, adding to the pollution problem we are striving to resolve. Furthermore, the intricate Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems that require DEF are expensive both to install and maintain, driving up the operational costs for industries that rely heavily on diesel-powered equipment.

Eliminating the requirement for SCR equipment and DEF could significantly reduce these costs, improve the efficiency of diesel vehicles, and free up resources to invest in more environmentally-friendly innovations for the future. Governments and regulatory bodies must reassess the long-term impact of current emissions requirements on both our environment and economy.

Help us push for a viable solution that balances the need for regulatory frameworks while being mindful of their unintended consequences. Sign this petition to encourage legislative bodies to work towards more sustainable and efficient environmental solutions for diesel vehicles.
