ELF Accountability Petition to Siwon and SM Entertainment

We, the undersigned ELF, respectfully call for accountability from Choi Siwon and SM Entertainment.

Some fans have noted that Siwon acknowledged concerns on Bubble. While this is a step toward recognition, it reaches only a limited audience and does not fully address the harm caused. Recent social media posts have highlighted certain causes while overlooking others, impacting communities affected by genocide and systemic injustice. Fans who support Super Junior feel hurt, disappointed, and concerned about the values the group represents. Simply deleting posts or calling them misunderstandings does not rebuild trust or demonstrate public accountability. Posting these messages during Super Junior's 20th anniversary was especially troubling, as it came across as a tone-deaf display that overshadowed the milestone and upset fans.

We do not want Siwon to be removed from Super Junior. However, the integrity of the group, the trust of fans, and the well-being of affected communities are at stake. This is an opportunity for Siwon to learn, grow, and model universal compassion rather than selective altruism. True leadership and fandom longevity come from humility, reflection, and care for all communities.

Immediate action is crucial. Every day the posts remain unacknowledged in public, affected communities continue to experience harm and fans’ trust erodes. By addressing these issues now in a visible and meaningful way, Siwon can demonstrate sincerity, compassion, and responsibility, setting an example for the entire fandom.

Our Requests

1. Public Acknowledgment and Apology
Siwon should publicly recognize the impact of his posts and acknowledge the communities and fans affected. This acknowledgment should come from reflection and sincerity, not just private messages.

2. Commitment to Learning
Siwon should participate in cultural and social sensitivity education led by recognized voices, especially from communities affected by genocide and systemic injustice.

3. Concrete Reparative Action
Siwon should support humanitarian efforts in communities he has overlooked or harmed. Transparency on what actions have been taken is important so fans can see meaningful steps toward universal compassion.

4. Structural Accountability from SM Entertainment
SM Entertainment should implement clear policies for artists’ social media use and communicate how repeated issues will be addressed.
