We, the youth of Punjab, urge the Government of Punjab to integrate Global Volunteering Standards (GVS) into the Punjab Youth Policy.

What is GVS?
Global Volunteering Standards (GVS) are comprehensive guidelines and practical tools designed to assist in the recruitment, training, management, and retention of volunteers. These standards align with local contexts and ensure the safety, well-being, and effectiveness of volunteers, fostering stronger and more resilient communities.

Volunteerism is vital for creating impactful social change, yet in Pakistan, the absence of standardized guidelines for managing volunteer programs has limited their effectiveness. By adopting GVS, Punjab can establish a framework that not only safeguards volunteer rights but also maximizes the impact of their efforts.

Key Benefits of Integrating GVS:

We Urge the Government of Punjab to:

• Recognize and incorporate Global Volunteering Standards into the Punjab Youth Policy.
• Allocate resources to implement and monitor GVS across youth-led initiatives and organizations.
• Encourage partnerships with national and international organizations to promote impactful volunteerism.
• Your prompt action on this matter will empower the youth of Punjab, enhance volunteer engagement with societies, organizations, and community initiatives, and contribute to sustainable development.

As the young generation, we frequently dedicate our time and energy to volunteering, whether with organizations, university clubs, or youth societies. However, to ensure that the contributions of volunteers are truly valued and recognized, there is a need for established standards.  

Through this petition, we call for the development of a structured framework and mechanism that acknowledges the efforts of volunteers and creates new avenues of opportunities for their growth and impact.
