Good news in the announcement from Mike Baird and the Minister for Transport today that ”the full closure of Heaton Avenue is off the table”.
However the full intent of that statement is not yet clear and we are trying to confirm with Mike Baird’s office the precise meaning. If as we believe it means that it might only be closed during morning peak hour for instance then we haven’t yet won the battle. We will alert you as soon as we discover the full meaning behind the government’s statement. As we all know and have written profusely about closing Heaton Avenue in the AM will cause additional peak hour traffic slowdown, chaos at some spots, gridlock at times and even greater delays to all Sydney Road users including bus passengers trying to access the Spit.
Your campaign committee will still be meeting T-NSW with NBC on Tuesday next to press our arguments for no closure at all to Heaton Avenue. Like us we urge you all to keep up your submissions to B-Line’s REF Inbox:- projects@transport.nsw.gov.au or via their website:- http://yoursay.b-line.transport.nsw.gov.au/seaforth. It also won’t be wasted if you copy those inputs to NBC, Mike Baird and the Minister for Transport.
Just email us at stopclosureheatonave@gmail for those addresses. And lastly if you can keep attending the B-Line information meetings to register your opposition to HAC. Next one on 7th Dec
On a positive note it seems our efforts are starting to bear fruit so congratulate yourselves for making a real impact and perhaps quicker than we had hoped. Your SHACC team cannot thank you all enough for your continuing support which has spurred us on and looks like getting us closer to the winning post. The weight of a united community team should never be underestimated.
A great weekend to all and we’ll keep you right up to date with any breaking news from hereon.
