Inner Connector Road, Trail and Park update!
 
Please help save the Abandoned Cannon Ridge Golf Course (Stafford Fairgrounds) from Residential Development, Support a Future Regional Park and save the Road/Trail Right-of-Way from Future development.

 
The Stafford Planning Commission has designated the Abandoned Cannon Ridge Golf Course as a Future Park in the New Comprehensive Plan, but the Silver Company has sent a letter opposing the Park Designation asking it to be designated for residential use, even thou the Golf Course land satisfies the open space ratio quota of the RBC ordinance and can't be developed .
 
There is a Joint Public Hearing of the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors to update the Stafford Comprehensive Plan on Tuesday October 19th at 7:00 PM in the Board of Supervisors Chambers. 
 
We need people to show support for the Park by emailing the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisor or showing up to the Public Hearing tomorrow Night. Anyone that can't attend the Public Hearing  is encouraged to email the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors. Please ask them to Please designate the Abandoned Cannon Ridge Golf Course as a Future Park in the Comprehensive Plan.

Hopefully the County will negotiate a deal to acquire the 283 acre Golf Course land in the future, but we need the Park designation to start the negotiations. The Golf Course has 7 miles of existing paved trails and it joins over 1,000 acres of City Conservation Riverfront Land that goes for miles on the Stafford Side of the River. The Park will finally give us Public access to the River and open it up for more trails. There are many Historic sites on the land including over 10 miles of 18th Century Roads that can easily be converted to Trails. The Combined contiguous area of the Golf Course, Fredericksburg land and Lake Mooney land near the river would make a great Regional 1,500+ Park.

The Citizens in Fredericksburg would also need access to the Park. That would encourage City Officials to support the Road and Trail River crossing.

Please email the Stafford Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission and tell them that you Support designating the Abandoned Cannon Ridge Golf Course as a Future Park in the Comprehensive Plan.
