We are calling on the Egyptian Military Regime to release its more than 65,000 Pro-Democracy Political Prisoners now.

We are a global movement raising awareness about the urgent need for protecting both people and planet as the world meets in Sharm, El-Sheikh, Egypt for the UN COP27 climate change conference on November 6-18, 2022.

In an official Statement Letter sent on World Peace Day (September 22, 2022), we appealed to the UN COP27 organizing committee, global leaders, and the media to take note of the human rights violations that have taken place in Egypt since the military coup led by General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his military regime.

Since the military coup in 2013, the country of Egypt has been dominated by an oppressive and authoritarian military regime that has carried out unprecedented human rights violations, forced disappearances, imprisonment of pro-democracy protestors, human rights defenders, journalists, numbering more than 65,000 political prisoners including more than 100 elected Members of Parliament including the former Speaker of Parliament.

Human rights defenders have been working for many years now, calling on Western leaders to leverage their foreign military aid to Egypt in protecting human rights and freedoms there.

Small victories have been made along the way, but still the Egyptian military regime continues to violate human rights in unprecedented ways, even with the world's democracies gathering inside its borders for such an important global event as the UN COP27.

Now it is time to appeal directly to the Egyptian military regime.

Egyptian Military Regime: as you stand on the world's stage for this important UN COP27 climate change conference, we call on you to do the right thing for once, to join the world's democracies in acknowledging your own human rights violations and release your political prisoners once and for all.

Egyptian Military Regime: as the world's eyes are on you like never before during the UN COP27 climate change conference, we call on you to allow freedom of speech, freedom of protest, freedom of dissent, freedom to organize, freedom of movement, freedom of the press--and uphold democracy itself as a way of life.

As pro-democracy supporters, human rights defenders, and climate change activists, we have this important global moment to not only address the climate change crisis, but also to call for the immediate, unconditional release of all the political prisoners in Egypt now.

If we act on this historic moment, we may see a human rights victory like never before seen in this generation.

If we let this important moment pass, it will be a great loss for human rights and democracy for generations to come.

So with that said, we are calling on the Egyptian Military Regime directly: Release your more than 65,000 Pro-Democracy Political Prisoners now.

قبل انعقاد مؤتمر الأمم المتحدة COP27[i]
 
ندعو النظام العسكري المصري للإفراج عن أكثر من 65 ألف سجين سياسي مؤيد للديمقراطية الآن.
نحن حركة عالمية تعمل على رفع مستوى الوعي حول الحاجة الملحة لحماية كل من البشر والكوكب بينما يجتمع العالم في شرم الشيخ بمصر لحضور مؤتمر الأمم المتحدة COP27 لتغير المناخ في الفترة من 6 إلى 18 نوفمبر 2022.
في بيان رسمي أُرسل في يوم السلام العالمي (22 سبتمبر 2022) ، ناشدنا اللجنة المنظمة للأمم المتحدة COP27 والقادة العالميين ووسائل الإعلام للإحاطة علما بانتهاكات حقوق الإنسان التي حدثت في مصر منذ الانقلاب العسكري. بقيادة اللواء عبد الفتاح السيسي ونظامه العسكري.

منذ الانقلاب العسكري في عام 2013 ، سيطر على مصر نظام عسكري قمعي وسلطوي ارتكب انتهاكات غير مسبوقة لحقوق الإنسان ، واختفاء قسري ، وسجن المتظاهرين المؤيدين للديمقراطية ، والمدافعين عن حقوق الإنسان ، والصحفيين ، وعددهم أكثر من 65000. سجناء سياسيون بما في ذلك أكثر من 100 عضو منتخب في البرلمان بما في ذلك رئيس البرلمان السابق نفسه.
