Sadly yesterday there was a campaign of dogs being poisoned in Ismailia GOVERNATE in Egypt. This is one of the dogs who succumbed to the vicious practice of poisoning. This really needs to end and stop both civilians and government officials who routinely go out of their way to poison dogs. Some will complain about barking or fear of dogs. The truth is they are heartless people who stoop so low to give a poison and walk away as the poor dog slowly suffocates or bleeds to death. Many dogs are used and bred for ruthless dogfighting where children are brought to "Friday Night Markets" in Cairo or Alexandria where bets are made as to which dog dies. It is a horrible thing to force dogs who, in their nature is not to be aggressive , be forced into becoming aggressive. Many strange methods can be used like recently there were rural farm people who had a dog tied to a short leash in such a way the dog could not even move. They leave the dog out with no food or water. They hit the dog. And their goal is to instigate the dog to get agitated and bite. You can see the dog is confused. Yet these people try their best to provoke the dogs. It is really sad and heartbreaking. There must be more advocacy for animal rights and animal welfare in Egypt. It is only few who know the true horrors of what happens at places like Burqesh  market in GIZA. Camels are bought from Sudan for their meat or to work. They do odd things to them like tie one leg up and restrain it with ropes. They somehow think this makes the camel stronger. Or just to torture them. These activities are often hidden from tourists. The public at large would be infuriated at knowing the extent of animal cruelty that pervades Egyptian society. But every day we remain silent means another day of suffering and cruelty at brutal and barbaric practices in Egypt.
