We have 1122 signatures on our paper petition signed by people visiting stalls on Berwick Street Market this week. While a week isn't very long it does fit with Westminster City Council's own snapshot survey, so must be deemed relevant and important. Particularly as the WCC survey does not ask the question 'Do you want your market privatised?' And this initial response clearly demonstrates that the community does not. We'll mail the scanned documents to Westminster now along with a link to this online petition, that currently stands at 2111. We have no doubt that this petition will grow significantly in the run up to June 30th 2016. Berwick Street Traders are very grateful for your support and do genuinely look forward to creating a Berwick Street Market that lives up to its 300 year tradition and acknowledges the vital role it plays at the heart of the community. Good to see the Evening Standard photographer turn up today, read a concerned article in the West End Extra, get a nice mention from India Rose James @BerW1ckStMarket - particularly as the closure of Walker's Court is causing such a huge fall off in trader for stallholders and regular customers are forced to take a different route to work. End of part one. Beginning of part two. Thanks again for sticking with us. Have a nice weekend and maybe see you tomorrow.
